Every once in a while a report comes out that is simultaneously brilliant in execution and silly in summary.  The recent robust “Money for Good” report from Hope Consulting is my candidate for the “What in the world were they thinking?” award.  In this well-researched study, the authors take volumes of original data on donor motivation and boil it down to a group of generalized behaviors which they say trump demographics as key indicators and data tools for fundraisers.  “Demographics don’t matter,” the report states flatly, “HNW [High Net Worth] donors behave similarly to others.”  I have a few things to say about that contention in my most recent Fundraising Sherpa blog.
